Winter

What would we do without something colder than our hearts

White snow blanketing the blackouts in our souls

Filling in the gaps of our imperfections

Three months of windchill that’s cold enough to kill what’s already dead inside

A time when people only look for warmth in the well of skin under all those clothes

Hoping it’s full rather than stretched thin

Wanting to wear a lover’s embrace like a personal heater

Melting an angel into the snow

  1. Colder than our hearts?
    I do not believe
    It will ever be
    As cold as all that.

  2. I love the imagery in this poem. You can really feel the chilling emotions through the metaphors. Keep writing! I have a literary review blog, so I love finding great writers on wordpress.
